[REFLECTION] I am pro-choice by Javiera Morales

I am pro-choice; I think that woman should have the right to decide about her own body. It seems to me unbelievable and reactionary that phrases like ‘’Did you like it? Now, deal with it’’ that blame woman and condemn her to a life without sex just because of the biological fact that she is who got pregnant, which is not optional. Besides, about the contraceptives, is the same thing, the one and only 100 percent effective is the abstinence, all the other methods can fail, and that doesn’t make woman the irresponsible killer that people think, especially considering that ‘’vasectomy’’ exists, which is an outpatient procedure and reversible! But nobody talks about man, like if the fetus could engender itself.

[REFLECTION] Why the Church doesn't approve the abortion? by Victor Isla

First of all, we must know that the church understands that abortion is a murder by any means and at any time during pregnancy from the moment of conception.
The church says that it doesn't try to impose their ideals but to defend the rights of people who can't do it by themselves, in this case, unborn children. The Church also says that the greatest gift is life and therefore seeks to protect and make people understand the true meaning of life is. It also says that only take into account the rights one of the parties involved. They forget very easily the other person that the woman within.
I think that the church isn't thinking about the mother's life and it's a wrong thinking.

[INTERVIEW] Talking to Dr. Claudio Diaz, a Psychologist by Matías José González Campos

1) Does abortion affect psychologically to the mother?

Yes it does affect, but it depends on the causes, if the mother got pregnant as result of a rape, it will affect her more than a woman who got pregnant because she didn’t use a birth control.

2) Why society doesn’t want to talk so much about abortion?

Well, because we Chilean people have so a deep concept of “Christians” that’s why when we talk about abortion we already think that it's bad.

3) If the mother has an abortion in a legal abortion clinic, the mother will be calmer?

Yes it´s helpful to be calmer, and if abortion becomes legal, the mother will have a great team to support her like: psychologists, good surgeons, and psychiatrists.

4) What do you think about the legalization of therapeutic abortion?

Well, it's time to move on and believe in therapeutic abortion. If the mother has a dead baby inside and it might affect her life, won't she have an abortion only because it isn't legal? On that case we are going to let the mother die because we don’t have an open mind. Society need to have an open mind and save the lives of thousands of mothers.

[REFLECTION] ¿Why legalization of therapeutic abortion can save lives? by Matias Jose Gonzalez Campos

Nowadays, abortion in our country is one of the biggest topics, because it always causes controversy and make people raise awareness on Chilean society.
The legalization of therapeutic abortion is crucial for women who have been sexually abused, because if young girls get pregnant because of a rape, it will be harmful physically and psychologically, and also the child might be born with health difficulties.
Say YES to therapeutic abortion, say YES to choice.
